Born in 1867, Marie Curie won 2 Nobel Prizes, pioneered radiation cancer treatment and battlefield x-ray and yet is best known for being killed by her discovery! In this Draw My Life we take a look at the short but science-packed life of a woman who was recently voted the most inspirational woman of all time!

Here are a few teaser facts to whet your appetite before watching our video:

  • Despite women not being allowed to attend university in Poland at the time, Marie and her sister joined an illegal underground university to do some illicit learning
  • To her dissatisfaction Marie’s work inadvertently lead to people creating radioactive lipsticks and alarm clocks
  • Marie Curie broke boundaries to become the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, as well as the first individual to actually win two Nobel Prizes!
  • She even ended up receiving a million pound gift of Radium from the US President! (What’s wrong with the cash?)
